Our Purpose
ICology’s origin story is an interesting one. A mistyped Google search caused the word "ecology" to show up. And after reading the definition, ICology made sense. Ecology is all about how organisms relate to one another and their surroundings. This is the basis of ICology.
ICology, founded by Chuck Gose and led by Kristin Hancock (both below), has transformed from an internal communication podcast to now a dedicated community for the profession - built by internal communicators for internal communicators.
The members make ICology special
We're not like other networks. We're a cool network. But unlike the mom from Mean Girls, we have some guidelines to foster a healthy and supportive community:
We are humans with faces. Everyone is excited to meet you! When you add a photo, a mini-bio, and even a quick introduction to Your Profile page, we can properly welcome you. Plus you'll get a ton more value than if you're an anonymous porcupine.
We lift each other up. We're here to encourage you to think bigger and we hope you'll do the same for us. Criticism, cynicism, and judgment is rampant everywhere else. We're doing something different here. Disagree when you want, but do so with support (trust us, it's possible!)
Sharing is caring. We'd love for you to step into your vulnerability. Your stories and experiences may be exactly what another member needs to hear today to solve a problem or seize an opportunity. The more you contribute, the more you'll get out of ICology. #facts
Get curious. We're here to push boundaries and move the profession forward. Every ICology member is both a student and a teacher. Let's reframe challenges together by asking questions and being open to the answers.
We don't spam, sell, or troll. We are totally here for your shameless self-promotion but when it veers into a sales pitch, it's time to pump the brakes.
These were easy agreements for us to make and hopefully they'll be easy for you to nod along with. It's pretty special here, and we can't wait for you to experience it for yourself.
